FGCU’s new president touts vision for university’s future at Horizon Foundation reception

The Horizon Foundation, Horizon Council and Lee County Economic Development Office, in partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University, recently hosted a reception for Lee County business and community leaders to welcome FGCU’s new president, Aseygul Timur. Timur is the university’s fifth president and took over the role at the school on July 1 following the retirement of Mike Martin.

Nearly 300 people gathered at the Caloosa Sound Convention Center to hear from Timur about her role and vision for the future of FGCU. She is now in her 24th year in higher education and has been at FGCU since 2019.
